A NEW CHAPTER FOR THE SOUTHERN REGION

For over a decade, we have not had the opportunity to exercise our most powerful right as NATCA members in the Southern Region: a vote for our Regional Vice President. It’s time for a change in how we communicate and how we treat each other. It’s time we shake things up and look for fresh ideas and new leaders who haven’t been given an opportunity. But most importantly, it’s time for us to have a voice. I look forward to earning your vote for Regional Vice President of the Southern Region.

I have proudly served NATCA in many roles and capacities over the last decade. Through this, I have gained valuable experience and insight into our organization and its members. What has become readily apparent to me is that the Southern Region needs a culture shift. We have seen our valuable leaders marginalized, different perspectives shot down, and a lack of communication has forced us to create our own narrative about our Union and its leaders. It’s time for a change.

Our membership deserves leaders with strategic, visionary plans along with the determination and work ethic to get things done. Having the loudest voice or the strongest hand doesn’t make someone a leader. A leader must continually look for ways to be more inclusive, communicate effectively, and listen to the members.

To that end, I am committed to serving our Southern Region membership to the fullest extent possible, to every corner of every state and at every facility. I have worked hard for years to represent NATCA and its members well, fighting to protect the rights and benefits we have. I believe I can offer the much-needed change we deserve and new ways of thinking. It would be my honor and privilege to serve and represent you, my fellow brothers and sisters of the Southern Region, as your RVP.

Fatigue Rules – UPDATE

Schedules should not be changed because of Whitaker’s mandate regarding updates to fatigue rules. NATCA and the Agency are engaged in discussions to review the findings of the Scientific Expert Panel, identify changes necessary to address fatigue, and then determine a plan for implementing any changes. While the updated memo from Timothy Arel seems only to delay changes, it is the result of a concerted effort by NATCA to uphold members’ rights.
